Immigrant Worker Assistance

Immigrants and workers of color often work in the most dangerous jobs, are frequently unaware of their rights and fear retribution from their employers if they speak up.

All workers—no matter where they are from or legal status—are entitled to:

  • A safe job
  • Medical treatment for a work injury ('workers compensation')
  • Minimum wage ($8.00/hour)

The Immigrants' Safe Work Initiative was created in the fall of 2000 to address the growing challenges facing low-income immigrant workers and workers of color. If you or someone you know is being treated unfairly in the workplace please learn more about our Worker's Center or call the MassCOSH Hotline at 617-825-SAFE.
